Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarships for his family and service to his community. His family's first name is his father was the youngest of nine kids raised within Eufala with Lucious Selmon. A second reason was his father was the only of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was a starter for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award for being the best lineman in the country. During his three-year tenure as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. He received a third scholarship in 1975 and designated a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned a diploma from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week throughout his college years. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for nine seasons and made three times all-pro. His business career began. By 1988, he became an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being among the top 10 young men from the United States. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6-2. While he was in college, he was the captain of the team of 1975. In 1993, he became the as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player as a member in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
